Sue Kennett performs for Elmwood

Residents, families and friends are all invited to gather in the ground floor lounge on Wednesday 31st August as we welcome Sue Kennett to Elmwood.  Sue will be brightening up our afternoon with song classics whilst cream teas are served for all!

Adrian Chapman returns to Willett House

Residents are invited to gather in the activities area as we welcome back Adrian Chapman to Willett House on Wednesday 31st August.

Adrian will be entertaining our residents with songs from our earlier days. Be sure to join in with the songs you know.

Carribbean flavours at Love Walk

Relatives, friends and staff are warmly invited to join our residents for this years annual summer party.

We will be hosting a Carribbean themed barbeque with delicious food, made by our residents, sweet music in the style of a steel band and a tombola.

Penny Clothing returns to Elmwood

Residents will have the opportunity to browse the rails of Penny Clothing’s merchandise on Thursday 25th August.

A day at the park for Willett House residents

A group of residents and carers, accompanied by Karla, our activities coordinator, will be spending a day at Swanley Park on Thursday 25th August.

East End to Elmwood

Anna Goldman will be bringing a touch of East End to Elmwood on Wednesday 24th August at 11am.

Residents, relatives and friends are invited to join us as Anna will be singing some of our favourite cockney songs such as ’We’ll meet again’ and ’Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner’.

Afternoon of song for Greenhill residents

Residents, relatives and friends are warmly invited to join us for a sing-a-long afternoon as we welcome Nathan Rogers to Greenhill.

Nathan will be singing a number of classic hits that we are sure to know the words to, be sure to sing-a-long if you do. He will be with us from3pm onwards!

2 exhibitions and ice cream by the ’beach’

A group of residents from Love Walk will be visiting the busy area of Southbank, London on Tuesday 23rd August, leaving Denmark Hill at 1.30pm.

The group will head to the National Theatre where they will view the ’Press Photographers Year’, a unique exhibition showcasing pictures that have been used in the media throughout 2010. For more information please visit the National Theatre’s website.

From here the group will go on to the The Royal Festival Hall where they will view another photography exhibition called ’People of Britain’, for more information please click here.

Weather and time permitting our exhibitionists will aim to finish the day with an ice cream on the beach by the ’Thames front’ before heading back to Denmark Hill in time for supper.

A day in Dulwich

Residents from Love Walk can enjoy a day out in Dulwich on Monday 22nd August.

Depending on the weather, the group are hoping to head to the park for a late morning picnic followed by a trip to the library where they shall watch 1960’s classic, My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn, Stanley Holloway and Wilfrid Hyde-White before heading back to Love Walk for supper.

15 mile sponsored walk for Mission Care

Activity coordinator’s from all homes have united together and planned to complete a 15 mile sponsored walk on 20th August, to raise funds for activities in all of our homes whilst raising the profile of Mission Care.

The walk will see them visit all six of our care homes commencing from Love Walk, Denmark Hill at 9am where an early morning breakfast will be prepared and ending at Willett House, Chislehurst for the finishing party!

Events will be happening throughout the homes during the day to support and cheer our team on. The walk is estimated to take approximately 7 hours where our team will stop at each home for refreshments which all are welcome to attend.

To support our team and to sponsor their efforts please speak to the activity coordinators in any of our homes. Friends, families, staff and supporters are warmly invited to join us for the celebration party at Willett House at 5pm.

Relative’s meeting at Greenhill

All of our residents’ relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend the Greenhill Relatives’ Meeting on Saturday 20th August.

These meetings are held quarterly and the next meeting date is Saturday 26th November.

Unfinished business at the Palace

A group of residents from Love Wallk will be revisiting the splendid Hampton Court Palace on Thursday 18th August.

There is so much to see and do at the Palace that the trip ealrier this year just wasn’t enough! The group will return to look around the beautiful grounds as well as walking through the home of former Monarch’s including King Henry VIII.

There are many events taking place at Hampton Court throughout the summer holidays including Live Tudor Cookery! Our residents are sure to have a fun packed day!

A gander around local shops

A group of residents will be accompanied by activities coordinator, Jimmy, on a morning shopping trip to local town centre, Bromley.

After looking around and possibly making a purchase or two the group can relax in a nearby cafe with a nice cup of tea and cake before heading back to Greenhill.

Elmwood folk welcome entertainer

On Wednesday 17th August, residents of Elmwood will be saying ’yeehah!’ as they welcome ’Country and Western’ singer, Adrian Chapman, to their home.

Adrian is a talented performer who has visited our residents before and will be singing favourites from the likes of Willy Nelson, Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash. Adrian’s talents don’t stop there, he will also be playing the saxophone and guitar for us all.

Furry friend to visit residents at Elmwood

Residents at Elmwood, Bickley will be joined by popular pet, Lucy the Shiht-zu, on Monday 15th August.

Lucy is a regular visitor at Elmwood, and is well loved by our residents. Look out for her in around and Elmwood from 2pm if you would like the opportunity to pet her.

Love walk to see King Groovy Concert

Residents from Love Walk, Denmark Hill shall be heading over to Ruskin Park for the King Groovy Concert on Saturday 13th August.  King Groovy are a 5 man big band who play a selection of instruments from the saxophone to the drums!

Elmwood visit Eltham Palace

A group of residents from Elmwood care home, Bickley shall be taking a historic trip to Eltham Palace on Friday 12th August.  The palace is well known for its magnificent medieval surroundings and beautiful landscape gardens. Our residents will get to have a sneak peak inside the palace as well as stopping off for a spot of lunch.

Peckham multi - storey car park sculpture show

Residents from Love Walk are embarking on a trip to Sculpture at the Peckham multi-storey on Friday 12th August.

The car park has been converted into an art contemporary exhibition space which has been running for five years.

Residents will enjoy a day of urban and abstract art in the beautiful creative settings of this converted car park as well as enjoying a spot of lunch at ‘Frank’s Cafe’. For more information, please contact Penny, Activities coordinator on 0207 7033632.

Taking residents to new Heights!

Due to the bad weather last week, Jimmy will be accompanying a group of residents to Eagle Heights Wildlife Park in Enysford on the rescheduled date Thursday 11th August.
 
Eagle Heights have an impressive collection of apporoximately 150 different birds of prey, some can be seen flying in the daily demonstrations that take place. There are also other animals to be seen here and tea rooms from which the beautiful village of Eynsford can be admired.

Gordon Dennington returns to Elmwood

Gordon Dennington returns to Elmwood on Wednesday 10th August. Gordon puts together a fantastic and informative collection of slideshows for our residents to watch. The theme for Gordon’s creative slideshow for this visit is ‘When we were young one day’.

Love Walk to visit SW1 Gallery

A group of residents from Love Walk, Denmark Hill shall be taking a trip to the SW1 gallery on Tuesday 9th August.  

The gallery is a contemporary exhibition space in Central London.  The ‘print and design’ exhibition is the latest and innovative showcase being held at the gallery located on the roof terrace!

Love Walk to visit Tate Modern

Residents from Love Walk, Denmark Hill will be taking a trip to the Tate Modern art gallery on Friday 5th July. Tate Modern is home to international modern contemporary art. Here our residents can visit a number of the exciting and innovative art exhibitions taking place from photography and a movie project exhibition.

Geoff Jukes and his mix bag of cockney songs returns to Elmwood on Wednesday 3rd August.

A scrumptious afternoon feast!

A small party of residents from Greenhill will be lunching out on Tuesday 2nd August as they visit popular ’Toby Cavery’ restaurant in nearby Sevenoaks.

Here our residents can enjoy a full on traditional roast with a choice of meats and vegetables and many different sides! The party are sure to leave feeling very full heading back in time for afternoon tea!

Mollie’s 100th Birthday celebrations

Residents, families and friends are all invited to join Homefield as we celebrate resident Mollie’s 100th Birthday!
