A group of residents from Elmwood nursing home will be visiting students at Eltham College on Thursday 30th June.
Our residents are being treated to afternoon tea, cake and entertainment by the students of the college. This promises to be a fun afternoon for all.

Popular pianist returns to Elmwood
Carol Wells, singer and pianist will be returning to Elmwood on Wednesday 29th June.

Guitarist to perform on all floors at Greenhill
On Wednesday 29th June, Mark Allain will be returning to Greenhill for an afternoon of music.
Mark and his guitar will be joining our residents on all floors as he showcases his talent. He has proven to be popular among our residents and this visit is sure is sure to be as entertaining as the last.

A group of residents from Morton House, Lewisham will be taking a visit to Lewisham Park on Tuesday 28th June 2011. Not only will they be enjoying the wonderful sunshine, they will also have a reminiscence discussion session about the 1930’s - 1950’s.

Barbershop singers at Elmwood
Residents at Elmwood will be joined by ’The Kentones’ at 3pm on Monday 27th June.
The Kentones are Barbershop singers and will be performing a mix of old and new songs for our residents to sing-a-long to.

Lynda Watts debut at Elmwood

Residents to visit local garden centre
A group of residents from Willett House will be visiting Polhill Garden Centre, Sevenoaks on Wednesday 22nd June.
There is lots to see at Polhill, not only can residents look around the nurseries they can do some personal shopping at the shopping village and enjoy a tasy lunch at Novell’s restaurant on site.

Classical performance comes to Elmwood

Pet Therapy returns to Elmwood

Love Walk residents get creative for Camberwell Arts Festival
The residents of Love Walk, Denmark Hill are pleased to announce that they are starting on their very own exciting and creative art project with the Camberwell Arts Festival.
Camberwell Arts Festival is an open place art exhibition taking place on the 18th – 26th June 2011. Our residents shall be marking art to line Love Walk for the festival itself whose art theme this year is ‘Cut, Copy and Paste’. Not only are the residents taking part in the festival but they will also be featured in the catalogue and maps which is a great opportunity to get involved the wider community.

A zoo, a farm and a picnic all in one day?!
Love Walk residents have a busy day planned on Thursday 16th June with planned trips to Battersea Park Zoo and Vauxhalls City Farm.
Firstly, we will be visiting Battersea Park Zoo where we can see and pet all kinds of animals including meerkats, kune kune pigs and monkeys. Here we anticipate to enjoy a picnic, inside or on the grounds of the farm depend on our ever changing weather. Once lunch has been enjoyed we will head to Vauxhall City Farm to round the day off.
We will be leaving at 9.45am, please meet us in the reception area at Love Walk.

At the Pumphouse, residents can will be shown an insight into the past, exhibits intriguing displays of everyday artefacts from homes of the twentieth century and houses the Rotherhithe Heritage Museum, as well as artefacts from the foreshore of the River Thames dating from Roman times to the present day.

Residents visit local museum
Residents from Love Walk will be making a day of it as they visit the quirky Horniman Museum in Forest Hill on Monday 13th June.
Here they will be able look at the thousands of objects ranging from a gigantic, overstuffed walrus to such oddities as oversize model insects. There are also displays of live insects and a small aquarium constructed in waterfall-like tiers.

A spot of lunchtime Jazz for Love Walk residents
The young and talented ’Caezars’ will be performing at the Southbank Centre on Friday 10th June.
Residents, families and friends are all invited to join us as we watch this group of 4 musicians perform, they will be playing a mix of Indie and Rockabilly with guitar influences from the 1960’s. We will then enjoy a picnic (weather permitting) along the Thames.
We will be leaving Love Walk at half ten so be sure to meet in reception if you would like to come along.

Bishop Justus School Choir return to Homefield
The Bishop Justus School Girl Choir will return to perform for residents at Homefield on the afternoon of Thursday 9th June at 2pm.
The students have performed here before singing old war time songs which our residents thoroughly enjoyed. The choir also stay afterwards to enjoy tea and cakes as well as spending time with our residents. The Bishop Justus School Choir will be performing across the homes throughout the year as they have before.

David McClelland at Elmwood

Mission Care on the farm
We are looking forward to a big Mission Care day our at Stanstead Bury Farm in Ware on Thursday 9th June, supported by Let Nature Feed Your Senses, a charitable initiative between L.E.A.F. and The Sensory Trust.
The farm is set amongst 250 acres with ancient woodlands, fields, lakes, a nature reserve, hedge ways and lots of accessible tracks. Our party which will include residents and friends from all of our homes, will alo be able to see kingfishers, herons and livestock, including Aberdeen angus cows, sheep and chickens.
Our visit will be very interactive and includes a special picnic lunch in one of the farm’s barns.

Sketch books at the ready!
Residents from Love Walk are invited to join us for a trip to the Tate Modern on Tuesday 7th June.
We will be able to take our own sketch books and be inspired by the exhibited art to create some of our very own masterpieces. If you would like to join us please be ready to leave Love Walk at 9.15am.

Charity Concert, Royal College of Music
Mission Care is delighted to have been selected as the beneficiary charity for a forthcoming concert at the Royal College of Music on Sunday 5th June.
The American Festival Chorus is a renowned choral group, comprising some 270 members, based at Utah State University. They will perform a series of concerts in Europe this Summer, that will feature a number of original pieces.
There is potential for Mission Care to raise several thousand pounds as the beneficiary charity for this event and it is key for us all to encourage our supporters, friends and partners to join us on this very special evening by purchasing tickets at £7.50 per ticket.
You can purchase tickets by visiting our Virgin Money Giving page or by sending a cheque to our Support Centre. Alternatively, you can purchase them in person, at any of one our homes. Please be sure to leave your postal address so that the tickets can be issued once payments have been receipted.
