Residents at Love Walk take a trip to the seaside

On Thursday 30th September some of our residents from Love Walk will be visiting popular seaside town, Eastbourne.

There will be lots for the residents to do during the day which will be finished with a classic supper of Fish and Chips on the seafront.

’The Two of Us’ join all of us at Elmwood

Families, friends and supporters are invited to join us as we welcome back to Elmwood singing duo ’The Two of Us’ on Wednesday 29th September.

Daphne and Shirley will be singing many of our favourite songs from 11am in the ground floor lounge.

Willett House turns ’Music Hall’

AIM Productions will be performing for our residents at Willett House on Wednesday 29th September at 11am.

AIM are a theatrical company and will be performing their ’All time music hall’ production for us which includes songs from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.

Day trip to Museum for residents at Love Walk

Some of our residents will enjoy a trip to the Cumin Museum on Tuesday 28th September.

With three different galleries, the museum tells the story of the Cumin families history as well as the history of Southwark itself starting from the Roman Times up to the present day.

Entertainment at Greenhill

All of our friends, families and supporters are warmly invited to join our residents at Greenhill nursing home on Friday 25th September for entertainment from our visiting entertainer.

Genie to perform at Homefield

Homefield will be welcoming singer Genie to Homefield on the afternoon of 24th September. Genie will be singing songs from the war time era including favourites ’We’ll meet again’.

Our families and friends are all warmly welcome to this event.

Residents visit London’s V & A Museum

Some of our residents are visiting the V & A museum today in South Kensington on Friday 24th September.

The V & A is a very interesting museum and can even boast that it is in fact the world’s greatest museum of art and design, unrivalled collections and artefacts dating back 3000 years.

The London Design Festival is currently taking place at the museum, which is a 9 day festival celebrating the the creative capital, London. 

There will be a number of special events will be taking place for our residents to enjoy.

An afternoon of music and song for our residents at Homefield

Our residents at Homefield will be taking a trip down memory lane as performer Genie sings for us on the 24th September. Families and friends are welcome to join us.

Elvis returns

Elvis impersonator, Gary King, will return to Willett House on Thursday 23rd September, after his wonderfully well received performance at the home in July.

Singer Sue joins Elmwood residents

Residents at Elmwood will be joined by Sue Kennett on Wednesday 22nd as she performs a number of favourite songs for our residents.

Cher Fashions at Willett House

Cher Fashions, a dedicated fashion retailer for the over 60s will be visiting Willett House on the afternoon of Monday 20th September. Residents will be able to browse and perhaps purchase items of clothing, footwear and accessories from the comfort of the home.

An afternoon of song for our residents at Elmwood

Residents of Elmwood will be joined by Jill and Barry Haggata on Wednesday 15th September. Jill will be performing many of our favourite songs alongside Barry who will be playing the accordian.

All of our residents’ families and friends are invited to join us for the afternoon as we enjoy the duo’s performance.

Christianity Explored

Pastor Paul Flynn of the Coppice Community Church is running the Christianity Explored programme at Elmwood nursing home over a period of ten weeks, taking place every Friday at 11am until Friday 12th November.

The course is an informal opportunity for people to learn more about Christianity. It explores who Jesus was, what his aims were, and what it means to follow him.

All of our residents, staff and supporters are warmly welcomed to attend the course at Elmwood.

Girls Choir to visit Elmwood

The Bishop Justus School Girls’ Choir will perform for residents at Elmwood on the afternoon of Tuesday 7th, September at 14.00pm. The girls will be performing many classics for us which will include ’Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag’ and ’We’ll meet again’.

The girls have previously sung at two of our other homes and residents have commented how wonderful it was to see them perform, bringing back wonderful memories.

Tea and cake will be on offer after the performance, in the lounge.

Our families, friends and supporters are all welcome to come and join us for what will be an enjoyable afternoon.

Mission Care runners warm up for race

A team of fourteen supporters, comprising colleagues and the family and friends of current and previous members of staff are preparing to complete the Adidas Women’s 5k Challenge this Sunday.

The fundraising event, which takes place in London’s Hyde Park will see an expected 40,000 women join together to raise funds and awareness for hundreds of different charities and appeals.

The Mission Care team includes Gladys Makarawo, Registered Manager and two care members of care staff from Morton House care home, Lewisham Park, who will be raising funds that will specifically benefit the care home with nursing’s twenty seven older residents. The remaining runners who work in Mission Care’s support services have chosen to direct the proceeds of their fundraising efforts to the Living God Orphanage in Suryapet, India.

Elmwood residents welcome Singing Duo

Our residents warmly invite our families and friends to join us on Saturday 24th as Singing duo ’Just Voices’ perform at Elmwood.

Just Voices will be singing some of our old time favourite songs from 11am, please come along and join us.

Love Walk residents to visit Hampton Court Palace

Some of our residents will be visiting the famous Hampton Court Palace on Thursday 2nd September. The palace is associated with many great Monarchs but most known for King Henry VIII.

The residents will have the chance to look around the palace itself, see into the kitchens of King Henry VIII as well as taking a walk around the beautiful grounds. Hampton Court Palace is also well known for its Maze, let’s see who makes it to the centre first!

Carol Wells visits Elmwood

Our residents will be welcoming Carol Wells to Elmwood this afternoon as she plays the piano for us.

All of our families and friends are invited to join us around the piano at 3pm for this afternoon treat.

Running for Suryapet

A team of 15 Mission Care supporters and employees will run the adidas Women’s 5K Challenge in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday 5th September.

All funds raised during this appeal will be directed to support the children of the Living God Orphanage, Suryapet, which Mission Care has recently announced support of.

Our runners are hoping to raise at least £1,500 which will purchase clothing, books and toys for the children. To help our runners reach their target, please visit their fundraising page at Virgin Money Giving.
