Residents and staff at Love Walk were delighted to receive more than sixty plants, through the Growing Southwark scheme, after the close of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show.
Once the world-famous show is over, efforts are made to reuse the thousands of plants that feature in the show and distribute to local community groups throughout London.
A mixture of edible and non-edible plants were received by the home. Lionel Healing, Activities Coordinator explained, ’we’ve planted scores of runner beans, strawberries, fennel, pumpkin, corn and salad plants in the vegetable garden and beautiful flowering plants, bushes and shrubs around the home. The residents and staff are equally excited to see and taste the results!’
Make sure to have a look at the results of our residents’ green fingered efforts the next time you visit Love Walk!
