Snow at Mission Care

Despite terrible weather conditions and the inevitable travel disruption that the heavy snowfall brought with it, life at Mission Care has continued as normal, with minimal disruption to our residents’ daily routines and care.
Staff in all of our homes demonstrated their incredible and commendable commitment and dedication to the wellbeing of the residents that they care for.
Many employees completed their journeys to work on foot when public transport was cancelled, walking for up to 3 hours each way in some instances. At Elmwood care home, Bickley, Alice Luka-Konoor, RGN, stayed at the home for 3 days and 2 nights, to cover shifts for colleagues that were unable to get to work.
Steph Storer, Clinical Practice Director gratefully thanked all of Mission Care’s employees, commenting, ’I have been overwhelmed by the dedication of our staff in maintaing a high standard of care for all of our residents in these awful weather conditions. All of our homes were covered and the accounts of people’s efforts to battle into work are truly inspirational.’
