Morton visit The Pumphouse

Morton House care home visited The Pumphouse Educational Museum in Rotherhithe on Tuesday 19th April and spent a wonderful afternoon with family and friends.

Seven of our residents were accompanied by five family members, three members of staff, a volunteer and Steve Taylor of the London City Mission.

The Pumphouse is a unique centre, fulled to the brim with lots of original, everyday items from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and 1960s to use for reminiscence.  Our residents enjoyed handling old irons, pots and pans and other household items, sharing their stories and memories with one another.

Afterwards, the centre kindly provided us with a lovely afternoon tea, held a raffle and led us in a number of activities to music, before we made the most of the afternoon sun in the centre’s nature reserve.

Everyone had a truly fabulous afternoon - thank you to our volunteers and the support of our friends during the home’s 20th birthday celebrations.  Proceeds from our fundraising at these events enabled this outing to take place.
