Eight residents from Greenhill, Morton House and Willett House enjoyed a fabulous day on the coast at Herne Bay on Thursday 7th July.
Accompanied by relatives, volunteers and activities coordinators from our homes, our party of 16 enjoyed glorious weather on the coast after an apprehensive start to the day because heavy rain hit Bromley and Lewisham!
For many of our residents, the trip was particularly enjoyable because of their links with Herne Bay and the Canterbury coastline. Len, who is a resident at Willett House explained that he used to be a bus driver in the area and that he used to eat ice creams in the very shop that our party visited after lunch.
Victor, whose wife Rosa is a resident at Morton House added, ’
it’s been very worthwhile for Rosa to visit Herne Bay today. We know the area very well as we visited often back in our younger days when we had our campervan.’
Our party enjoyed fish and chips with mushy peas in a traditional restaurant on the seafront and a stroll along the promenade before returning back home for supper. For pictures of the trip please
