Since Elmwood opened its doors in 1952, the home has always been described as having a strong family atmosphere.
“We operate as one big team here at Elmwood. We are a family all working towards the same goal of providing the best possible care for our residents.” Nkwachi Ukaegbu, Home Manager.
This special relationship between residents, relatives and staff has always been at the heart of Elmwood and the incredible teamwork regularly extends beyond the day-to-day routine. The sensory garden project is one example of this – a garden built with the help and generosity of residents, staff and local businesses who recognised the benefit such an outside space would bring to our residents’ quality of life.
Residents at Elmwood have their own spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and can spend time with other residents, staff, volunteers and family members in our communal lounges and dining rooms. The home also has a coffee shop, cinema room and chapel which are available for all of our residents to use.
Elmwood has a dedicated salon and treatments room and provides hairdressing, chiropody, optical, dental and oral hygiene services for our residents, together with regular visits from our GP.
Elmwood also has a dedicated floor that cares for residents living with dementia.
