The staff team at Love Walk work hard to support our residents to live as independently as possible and to participate in the full range of services that the home and surrounding community provides. Our carers provide individual care according to the needs and abilities of each resident.
No two days are ever the same at the home. Whether it be making quince jelly from scratch, swimming at the local leisure centre, cycling at Herne Hill velodrome or watching a game of cricket at The Oval, our residents have always enjoyed a full and varied range of activities and very often at their own suggestion.
“Every February on Dignity Action Day we pin our wishes for that year onto our special wish tree, it’s important that we work together towards helping our residents achieve their goals, no matter how big or small they are.” Penny Brice, Activities Co-Ordinator.
The wish tree has so far seen residents go to the gym, try their hand at bowling, learn a musical instrument and get stuck into some airfix modelling – amongst other activities and outings.
Love Walk is fully secure and accessible. Residents have individual rooms, yet enjoy multiple communal areas including a games room with pool table; IT and internet facilities; a light, bright dining area; and a paved garden area and gazebo. We provide optical, dental and oral hygiene services; rehabilitative services on referral; and advocacy services on request.
Love Walk has strong links with local churches who, along with our own pastoral team, provide encouragement in the Christian faith for our residents, and involve them in our regular church services and prayer times.
