Residents step back in time

Residents from Willett House spent a wonderful afternoon at London’s Imperial War Museum on Thursday 26th August.

The museum houses a huge range of large exhibits from the First and Second World Wars, including vehicles, boats and aeroplanes from the military, airforce and navy, that provided stimulating discussion points for our group.

The home front exhibition and gallery included a range of audio and visual installations which were particularly stimulating for our residents. Recordings of famous war time speeches, music and archive footage prompted varied responses from our residents and the walk-in 1940s houses and air raid shelters also brought back a great deal of memories.

Our group were able to share their memories of the great wars and war time experiences over a picnic lunch in the museum’s dining room and on the return journey to Chislehurst from Lambeth.
