Residents from Willett House care home, Chislehurst, spent a truly fantastic day at the
Bluebell Steam Railway on Thursday 21st April.
Arriving at Sheffield Park Station in glorious sunshine, our party of five purchased tickets in the beautifully restored period station, amidst original advertising boards and other powerful reminiscence items.
After boarding the steam train, our residents enjoyed teas and coffees on board as we sped through the Sussex countryside, to the familiar smells and sounds of the locomotive.
Our residents shared a picnic together at Kingscote station, accompanied once more by plenty of cups of tea, before returning to Sheffield Park on the 3pm train.  We were lucky to return in the guard’s car, where we learnt more about the railway and the workings of the train.
Before returning to Chislehurst our residents enjoyed ice creams and cold drinks at the station.
