A trio of residents from both Greenhill and Willett House boarded the Kent and East Sussex railway on Thursday 15
th September. Our troop of sightseers accompanied by carers, activity coordinators and a member of staff from the support centre commenced their journey from rural Tenterden.
The train departed at 2.20pm and the group set off on their journey through the pastoral green pastures of Kent. Everyone tucked into lunch once they embarked onto the diesel operated train, overlooking the farm animals and scenic routes on the way.
Prior to coming to Greenhill and Willett House many of our residents took train journeys to the coast by the seaside and also used to commute into work. John a resident from Willett House explained
‘I used to get the train from home to work every day, and I have enjoyed this train ride very much!’
The train line ended at Bodiam, home to Bodiam Castle before heading back up the line to Tenterden again. Michael, resident from Greenhill is an avid fan of trains and commented that
‘the railway represents my world; the journey was very rural and pleasant.’
