MAKING MINCE PIES AT LOVE WALK

Residents at Love Walk had a festive baking afternoon recently when they made their own mince pies from scratch. The activity was chosen by the residents who also decided to try something new and chose a recipe with a spiced orange crumble topping instead of the usual pastry.

Led by Activities Co-ordinator, Penny Brice, residents made two different batches, one of which was low in sugar so that everyone could enjoy them. Residents made their own pastry and then rolled and cut out the cases, filled them with mincemeat, covered them with crumble and, finally, popped them in to bake. It’s safe to say the results were fantastic!
